There’s nothing worse than living next door to your childhood nemesis, except maybe being forced to share your dream project with him, being blackmailed into going along with something that was just wrong on so many levels, and having your hot cocoa stolen by the person that drove you to drink it in the first place. As long as she has plenty of hot cocoa, a pair of pliers on hand and is able to resist Connor O’Neil's bad boy charm then Rory James should be able to make it through this project with her sanity intact. If not...
She’d probably face a few more nights in jail, have a few more restraining orders slapped against her and lose her heart to the man that ruined her life FIVE BOUNDLESS STARS
As I was listening to this, I kept having the nagging feeling I had read this before. It was bugging me. Finally, about ½ way through I checked my Goodreads, and sure enough, I read this back in 2012. Reading an average of 150 to 200 books a year I didn’t remember but I knew I loved it. I am not sure why I stopped reading this series back in 2012 because it is fabulous. I love-hate to love books. Checkmate is funny, and I LOVED the characters. I did want to reach in a punch Connor many times. I loved that Rory never gives an inch. Their love-hate relationship is classic and so delicious. The antics that they get up to and the fact that they are banned from everywhere in town is just beyond extra. This is such an excellent series and one I am glad is on audiobook I have my new series I am binging. I am highly looking forward to it. I loved Checkmate, and I am rating it 5 Boundless stars. I am now going back and starting at the beginning with Playing for Keeps.
