Nemesis (n.) 1)
An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome;
2) A person’s undoing;
3) Joshua Templeman.
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.
Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game. FIVE huge BOUNDLESS STARS
If I could live and breathe this book, I would. If I could crawl into the pages and become Lucy Hutton I would. I think Joshua Templeman is my new Book Boyfriend. He isn’t a superhero or vampire, he is a real guy, with real issues, but he is in love with a real woman, and their story is so unbelievably, heart-stoppingly, undeniably good. I loved every second.
This is the story that shows some men never learn past the stage of hitting or pushing the girl on the playground that they like when they are little boys. And some women don’t realize that the man/boy who is being mean actually likes you. This book had me smiling the entire time I listened. It had me crying a few times, and immediately when I finished, I wanted to start over. I told my co-worker that we should listen to it in the office together, then thought maybe not, because it is rather steamy. Or as Audibly rates it “Hot damn,” which I couldn’t agree with more. I loved The Hating Game, the audiobook I listened to was fantastic, and I thought Katie Schorr was terrific. I also found out that the rights have been purchased to make this into a movie. YAY! I am giving The Hating Game 5 HUGE Boundless Stars.
