This is set in the same world as the 9 Valos of Sanhadra novels and is about Preta and Charlie’s dad who they realized was there on the planet looking for them. You will need to read the novels Tempest and Alluvial in this world to understand this novella. I had trouble towards the end of the story and dialog wasn’t making a lot of sense. But I got fed up trying to decipher it, so I just moved on. The story also got a little discombobulated a few times, and I didn’t know what was going on. What I did like is we were finally given an idea of why the creators of the Valos left, which was a relief. That was one thing that bugged me throughout the story. So I liked that. I also liked that we got to check back in with Charlie and Petra and see how they are. It was hard for me to picture Sol being their dad, he just seemed to be written as a much younger man. But it was good to see them reunited. I am giving this story 3 Boundless stars, it was good.
