She could save the world - or destroy it.
Sixteen year old Evangeline "Evie" Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future - and they're still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Derveaux.
But she can't do either alone.
With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can't totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?
Who can Evie trust?
As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it's not always clear who is on which side... FIVE (HUGE) BOUNDLESS STARS
I don’t typically read young adult or teen books. They aren’t my thing. They tend to be too angst driven and don’t have enough steam for my liking. However, I had been looking at this title for quite a while since I LOVE Cole’s IAD series. And I do mean LOVE! So when a two for one deal on the first two books in the Arcana Chronicles was offered via audiobooks I took a chance. JUST WOW! This book was utterly phenomenal! Yes, it did have that teenage angst but it totally worked with this story. Poison Princess is EVERYTHING! I am dumbstruck by how intricate and complex this world is. But I shouldn’t be this is Cole, who is an outstanding writer, and has a knack for weaving such complex and vivid tales that draw the reader in from the first page. I am glad she can reach a wider audience with this series. My only problem at this point is I want to devour the entire series. I want it all and I want it now. Luckily I have 5 books already published and it looks like the sixth is soon to follow. Yay me! Because taking my time and savoring isn’t going to be an option. I am obsessed with Evie and I have to know more. I have to know what happens with Jack, does she kick him to the curb? I am not a fan of Jack and I hope she realizes she doesn’t need him. Galvin and Nobbs are both fantastic in this audiobook and I hope they continue with the series. Especially, Galvin, she MADE Evie, she IS Evie. I am immediately moving on to book 2 Endless Knight because I can’t not. I have to know the next chapter. But as you can imagine Poison Princess is getting a HUGE 5 Boundless Stars from me, I wish I could give it 100 stars. One of the best stories I have read all year and one I have already recommended to friends.
