Portia is a young woman staying at her cousin's country estate to escape the season and to get away from her mother who wishes to marry her off. While there, she begins to be visited by a ghostly figure. She has no clue who this man is, but the more she sees him and begins to care for him, she seeks answers. Is it a ghost or a real person reaching out for help? As the story unfolds mysteries are solved and her heart is won by a most unlikely suitor. This book was awesome. You don't read many books like this. I'm all about ghost stories, but this book gave a little twist to that. The characters were real and easy to like and the story was gripping. The story of the straight minded Portia and her astral visitor gives this book a spooky feel. This feeling does not frighten but gives the reader a sense of mystery and desperation. Who is this man and why is he reaching out to her? I REALLY enjoyed this book. The characters, the historical setting, the storyline, all of it was simply awesome. It was full of drama and mystery and a great amount of romance. It was everything I love to read in a book. I can't wait to read the other books in this series. Just based on this book alone I can say that Patricia Catacalos is going to be one of my new favorite authors.
