SYNOPSIS

Niall MacIan, a Highland laird, desperately needs funds to save his impoverished clan. Lady Katherine Ruthven, a lowland heiress, is rumored to be “unmarriageable” and her uncle hopes to be granted her title and lands when the king sends her to a convent. King David II anxious to strengthen his alliances sees a solution that will give Ruthven the title he wants, and MacIan the money he needs. Laird MacIan will receive Lady Katherine’s hand along with her substantial dowry and her uncle will receive her lands and title.

Lady Katherine must forfeit everything in exchange for a husband who does not want to be married and believes all women to be self-centered and deceitful. Can the lovely and gentle Katherine mend his heart and build a life with him or will he allow the treachery of others to destroy them?

FIVE BOUNDLESS STARS

Lady Katherine Ruthven has been under the care of her cruel uncle since the death of her parents. She is wealthy and her uncle means to have her title and lands. When Laird Niall MacIan comes forth offering to marry her he chooses so for her money, not for her love. He needs her dowry to help fund his clan. He has no intention of letting a woman hurt him again. He tries his hardest to keep her from stealing his heart, but soon he can't help it. Soon a conspiracy to kill Niall and take Duncurra is unleashed and Katherine is in danger. Will Niall find out the truth behind this conspiracy and be able to keep his wife safe? I really enjoyed this book. Katherine has a very sad story that seems to get worse as the story goes, but the more you find out about her life the more you grow to love her as a character. Niall is a character that just seems to want to be disliked, but I found it very hard to do so. The story of their love is a great one. This book was very well written. It had me crying and laughing. I honestly fell in love with the entire story. From the Highlands setting to the romance it was just a very well written book. It has action, timeless romance, compassion, and history. It was also a book filled with mystery. When the conspiracy begins you think you know what is happening and who is involved, but around every corner they keep you guessing. It was a great beginning to a promising series.
