SYNOPSIS
As the last of her kind, Fallen awakes in a holding cell, but being locked up is the least of her problems. She's been magically bound to a cocky Queen's Guardian named Saber. Because Fallen is the last dragon shifter in Tapestry, she's on everyone's hit list... especially his... but she doesn't have time to die by his hand. Fallen has to find her life mate in four weeks or else all of creation in her world will be destroyed. Saber never asked to be brought to life. He certainly never wanted to be hexed and forced to transform into a mindless shadow assassin. Exiled from the Kingdom, he must rescue his stepfather from the Collector to prove his innocence. Otherwise he'll be hunted and killed. But his plans are temporarily put on hold when he's captured, imprisoned, and bound to a mysterious blond-haired vixen with a major fire addiction. With time ticking away for Saber and Fallen, will the two be able to come together to defeat the Collector and save themselves, along with the rest of the world? Part of the Fated & Forbidden Collection. Fallen Ashes is a stand alone book. Read about Allendra and the story that starts it all in The Challenge by Kallysten via instafreebie.
FIVE (4.5) BOUNDLESS STARS
I voluntarily received an ARC of Fallen Ashes. Paranormal romance, is one that I am tending to shy away from. However, I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that Walsh has sent me and I had to give this a try. Not to mention Dragon Shifters are just plain fun! I was not disappointed one bit with Fallen Ashes. I will suggest reading the free novella that is the prequel to this story, The Challenge. There is a link to it in the beginning of Fallen Ashes.
Every book I’ve read from Walsh, are truly unique and utterly her own. She has a remarkable gift of being able to take a theme that everyone has heard of; be it dragon shifter or werewolves and spin it to something truly original and unique to her writing style. I honestly think I would even give a vampire book a try if she tackled one. And I am loathed to read those at this stage in my life. LOL
The story between Fallon and Saber was extremely enjoyable with a lot of action and some steamy chemistry. The story started out fast paced and just kept going. I really hope Walsh continues with this world and maybe we will see stories with the guards? This is a world I want more of.
