“You’re off-limits, so why can’t I stop thinking about you?” Fay Whitaker, sixteen years old and yearning for adventure, is excited to spend the summer with her fearless cousin Celia in small-town Juniper, Indiana. But Fay soon discovers that her summer home is not what she expected. She is alarmed by her uncle’s temper, and learns of the grudge he holds against the Dearing family. Celia handles the tension at home by escaping with her boyfriend, leaving Fay with time on her hands—time that leads her straight to Malcolm Dearing, off-limits because of his last name. Fay is captivated by Malcolm’s warmth and intensity. She finds that trying to stay away from him only makes her think of him more. Fay and Celia are launched on a journey, and each must attempt to navigate the thrilling and unpredictable world of love. Everything Fay thinks she knows about love is put to the test, as relationships unfold and reveal themselves in ways she never before dreamed.
Five Boundless Stars
Fay is spending her summer with her cousin Celia, just as she has done for years. This summer is different though. She will be staying longer than the normal week so her parents can go on a retreat to see about saving their marriage. This leaves Fay at the mercy of her Aunt and Uncle. While her usual stays are fun and joy filled, this one is different. Celia is different. Her aunt and uncle are different. As the trip goes on Fay is different as well. While trying to be everything others want her to be she figures out that sometimes it's okay to break a couple rules if it means being happy. This book was a great read. Fay is just a normal teenager trying to navigate a social life while dealing with family issues. The story was simple and easy to love. I loved Fay and Malcolm from the beginning. The love they share is so sweet and tender. I absolutely loved their young romance. Malcolm says in this book, “Things are dark for you right now. You’re walking in the darkness . I can’t pull you out of it. I can’t turn on a light. But I will walk through it with you.” I just have to say, this line was beautiful. A great quote and one that really shows the true meaning of love. Overall, I found this book easy to love and written very well. Great teen romance and one that I will definitely recommend.
