Bad luck magnet Abby Fitzpatrick gets fired, catches her boyfriend cheating with a mime, and is cursed by an evil genie who pops out of a tampon box. She’s bound and determined to remove the spell and, as fate would have it, the hottest guy she’s ever met is out to kill her. River Stone, a Cryptid hunter for Legends and Myths Police Squad (L.A.M.P.S.), poses as sheriff for Abby’s hometown of Haber Cove, New Jersey. He’s out to find and capture a man-eating gnome and bag the legendary Jersey Devil monster. Little does he realize, the woman who catches his heart is the same creature that he was sent to destroy. Tempting the Light is the first novel in the L.A.M.P.S. series that features hunky secret agents who find true love while hunting and slaying dangerous Cryptids.
Five (Huge) Boundless Stars
This book was HILARIOUS! I mean, seriously! A Jeanie pops out of a tampon box and curses Abby, the main character. LOL funny! This is after she finds her boyfriend in the act of cheating on her with a mime; to top it off, the mime stays in character throughout the whole situation and never talks. Luckily, Abby seems fine with it as she storms out saying “I hope you have ugly clown babies.” Her boyfriend, and his “mini-manly parts” has a sick fetish with mime’s and clowns; and it’s made obvious when she is talking to her best friend and says, “I should have dumped him when I found his subscription to the clown porn site,” seriously, is that a real thing? I’m too scared to google it.
I absolutely loved the characters; Abby and Pepper sound like me and my best friend. I love the chemistry between Abby and River, “to bad he wants to kill (Abby) me.” The writing was excellent; not too wordy or too little details, just the right amount to keep the story reading smoothly. It was a quick, easy, and fun read. I loved everything about Tempting the Light. I look forward to more of this series; I hope to learn more about Pepper and Ottar with the next book. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, Tempting the Light is a HUGE 5 Boundless Star book for me.
