Synopsis

The streets of Arcania are overrun with crime, deteriorating as a madman named Fortune makes himself at home. He shows no mercy, striking down anyone in his path – including Nova Benson’s little sister. Devastated, Nova vows to seek justice for her family, but aside from her freak strength and impenetrable skin, how is she supposed to stop a monster like Fortune? Cole Warner wants to help people. Entrusted to keep his family’s secret, he’s also frustrated at having to hide his gift. He knows he could do more to help in the fight against Fortune. If he could convince his sister Penelope to join him, they might even have a chance at beating him. When Cole meets Nova, he realizes his whole world is about to change. And he’s going to welcome it with open arms. Falling for each other wasn’t part of the plan. Then again, neither was becoming a superhero.

Five Boundless Stars

As a reviewer, we often get requests for books. That are similar to ones that we’ve reviewed before, well not similar but in a genre that is similar. Usually, when someone says if you like this book, then you’ll love this one. Sometimes that's not the case and sometimes it is.

Supernova, came to me that exact same way. But I felt that I should give it a chance. I love super power type stories. So I jumped in. Arcania is another world, one with the gifted. The gifted have powers. Some stronger than others. Nova is an unbreakable but has never really understood her gift. She doesn’t feel pain and has an unbreakable type skin. But her gifts don’t really come in full force till Fortune. Fortune is the ultimate bad guy. He just doesn’t care about anything but himself. He enjoys his power and at one point, he does the unthinkable.

After the chance meeting with Fortune, Nova becomes sullen. Doesn’t want to do anything, doesn’t want to go anywhere. And eventually makes it her own personal mission to take down Fortune. So that way he can’t hurt anyone else and hopes that he will leave the city.

Supernova, is an incredible story. About determination and self discovery. We never know who we truly are, till were given the opportunity to do so. This story seriously had me on edge. I love when I’m reading and don’t even know how long I’ve been reading, till I glance down and realize the story is going faster than I thought. That’s when you know, you're really reading something good.

Long, has created this world full of powers, danger, heartbreak and love. I’m glad I was given this opportunity to get to know these characters and read their story. Her writing style makes it so easy to jump in and never want to leave.

Overall, I give this book Five Boundless Stars. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment.
