COAST (Kick Push 2) – by Jay McLean

Series: The Road #3, Kick Push #2

Release Date: June 7, 2016

BLURB

One life-changing summer.

One boy.

The boy.

The boy who offered me safe touches and heart-stopping smiles - smiles he shared with his son.

We filled our days with porch-step kisses,

filled our ears with laughter,

filled our hearts with love.

Deep, soul-aching, desperate love.

But love is misleading.

It’s an invisible, fleeting moment.

Somewhere between false adoration and pure hatred comes an emotion, a vulnerable need, a single desire.

It lives within the ones who miss it, who crave it,

who know better than to expect it.

Love is relentless.

Even when that love turns to hate, turns to loathing,

turns to pain.

Love should heal you.

But it can also break you.

Believe me, I know…

Because I'm Becca Owens - a broken girl…

…And he's Josh Warden - the boy who broke me.

Lissa's Review

Five (4.5) Boundless Stars

I can say I’ve read almost all of Jays books. Going into this one, I wanted it to be like the first time I’ve read one of her books. I loved Kick Push. I loved Josh and Becca. I loved Tommy in all his childish innocence. I was thinking I that maybe it would of changed in some way. But nope it didn’t.

Becca has dealt with a lot in life. Her mothers abuse, her losing her voice. All the relationship ups and downs that has happened with Josh. But Josh never let go. He wanted to be there for her and let her have her space when she needed it. I wonder if there’s a real genuine Josh out there? because if there was. That would be one lucky lady.

With Coast, you get more into Becca. You read her Journal, you get a sense of who Becca really is. In all of it, it’s really just a girl thats lost, doesn’t really have a voice but she finds everything she needs in Josh. And you can say the same for Josh.

Jay’s writing skills are still the same and have a way of drawing the reader in. Enveloping them in a story that she created. You can tell she loves what she does. It all comes through in her stories, all those words. Words are everything. Words always have some kind of meaning. She’s able to weave these really beautiful, heartbreaking, soul searching stories. No worries, totally not sucking up here. She gets a million reviews, so she may not see this one. All in all, I’m not disappointed.

The only complaint I have is… it just wasn’t long enough. I’m not going to be greedy though. We’ve gotten to see these characters develop and become more of themselves. We’ve gotten to take these journeys with them, through all of these pages.

“For her, true happiness is you Warden.”
