My name is Rylee and I was a Tracker. The final battle is over and The Blood of the Lost was spilled. In the aftermath, the humans still have mysteries they call upon me for. Except I can no longer Track and my new abilities terrify me. A salvage is offered to me, and with it, a chance to redeem myself. A missing girl, her brother desperate to find her. Simple and straightforward, this salvage should be a piece of cake - and a chance to learn some discipline with my powers. Except the girl is somehow tied to the world of the Elementals, and with that comes a danger I could never have expected. As I search for her, I realize it is not only her life that is on the line, but my soul and sanity as well, as the voices and unnatural needs in me grow more demanding. If I am to save us both, I must face the darkness within; and this time, I must do it all by myself.

Five Boundless Stars

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Rylee’s series has been one of my favorites and when it ended with Blood of the Lost it was a bitter sweet. I felt like I was losing a group of friends I had grown to love. When Shannon announced that she was going back to write more Rylee, I was bursting with joy. After reading RYLEE: The Rylee Adamson Epilogues Book 1, I was not disappointed one bit!

I am going to start right here and say this is an epilogue to the Entire Rylee Adamson Series, so this book will blow that series for you. It also has a little bit of spoilers for Shannon’s other Elemental series. These two worlds are so closely intertwined, and weaved together so deliciously you really don’t want to miss any of it. I HIGHLY recommend going back and reading both.

In the first Epilogue Rylee is dealing with the after-effect of the battle with Orion; the losses and the fundamental change that has taken place within her. She is so lost and in a place she is unfamiliar with.

“I’m a daywalking vampire,” but to me, what I was really saying was “I’m officially a monster. A bad guy.”

It was surreal to have Rylee brought to a place she didn’t know herself; she wasn’t sure of her direction. She is fighting herself; the new darkness and hunger that comes with being a vampire, is afraid of herself and what she might do to those she loves.

She is offered the opportunity to once again go on a salvage, but with her tracker skill gone how does she do it? Who is she other than a monster?

I loved the first installment of the Epilogues, Shannon put Rylee and her companies through their paces, on a perilous journey to once again save a child. This is Shannon Mayer at her best! Thrilling, non-stop action with so many twists you keep turning the page wanting more. Not only can I not wait for the next Epilogue, now I cannot wait for the next Elemental book because WOW, I need to know what happens next!
