London, 1794. Lucius Cane, a peculiar sort of vampire, comes upon an opponent the likes of which he has never seen before – a brute with remarkable abilities. But not all is as it seems as their encounter unfolds in a manner that neither of them expected.
Three Boundless Stars
I can sum this up in three words; definitely a quick read. I’m pretty sure I’ve written longer papers in college. However, they weren’t as entertaining. Vanya is obviously a talented writer and I’m glad I got the opportunity to read this short story. I’m sure The Story of Lucius Cane in just an introduction to a series; and a very nice start I might add.
This is a difficult book for me to rate; based on the writing and the story, it’s a 4 star book, I love it. I prefer books longer than 7,000 words, so if I had to rate it on length, it would be a two star. Overall, I have to say 3 Boundless Stars, for “I liked it, but it could have been better.” However; the same writing talent put to work a longer book would be a strong 5 stars. I recommend this as a quick download to read in your doctor’s waiting room, it’s a better option than the outdated germ filled magazines they usually have lying about; if you don’t finish it while waiting for the doctor, you can always finish while waiting for the elevator. It really is that short, but good.
