Synopsis
Serum Z has mutated, and the race for a cure has begun. As the world falls victim to Dr. Roberson’s creation, Grace and her fellow Zombrids find themselves trying to clean up his mess. Thousands of people are “turning” as the moments pass by, and soon they are preparing to throw themselves right in the middle of it all. Grace learns to love who she is, and the answer to salvation lies within her. But is it enough? Serena is there from the very beginning. The independent waitress struggled her entire life to find happiness and when she finally does, it is all taken away from her by one bite. Fighting to survive the zombie apocalypse is one thing, but she can’t win the battle of losing her humanity. While the darkness inside of Serena strengthens with every zombie she kills, so does her rage for the man who started it all. She must find Dr. Roberson to avenge her true love’s death. But while traveling the road with a companion and his zombie daughter, she is led to a teenage girl who is half human, half zombie. Serena and Grace are worlds apart, but can they work together to save civilization?
Five Boundless Stars
Unfortunately, this is the last book in the series. I'm a bit sad cause I've really grown to love Grace. I think this was really a groundbreaking series. In the Zombie world you get just the Zombie. The hordes of zombies, mindlessly attacking the people trying to survive. But I have yet to see another series with the idea of the main character being the Zombie or a Zombrid.
It had all that I love about Zombies in this awesome story. That I can't think is nothing other than exciting, horrifying and brilliant. Davis really just brings you into this insane world.
With this book, it was a bit different because she included another character, Serena. She really evolves through out the story. You see her as just this waitress, to this kick ass zombie killer. But she has a lot of issues, obviously. Who wouldn't under those circumstances.
At first, I didn't understand why Serena was added to the story. But slowly I realized she was a nice addition because you get to see what survivors have gone through. You can't with Grace and the others being so far away from civilization.
I didn't expect that ending! I wish there was more. Gah! If your looking for something unique. A series that will keep you wanting to turn the page. If you have a love for Zombies. Then I think you would love this.
