Synopsis
Being seventeen and an outcast is hard. Being seventeen and only half human is harder. When Aria Fae gets cast out of the Peace Brokers, a secret supernatural organization that’s trained her since infancy, and is left to fend for herself in the human world, she finds herself in Grant City, intent on attempting a normal human life. As a Halfling, Aria has abilities that are a little underused in the flower shop she lands a job at. And when her new friend Samantha Shy enlists Aria to help investigate her mother’s death, the two girls decide to become vigilantes. A new drug called Black Magic is running rampant in the streets of Grant City, turning people into supercharged maniacs. With Sam’s mad computer skills, and Aria’s Faevian abilities, they may be just the heroes Grant City is in need of. Or they may find out they’re in way over their heads, and their mutual crush on the same guy is the least of their worries.
Five Boundless Stars
1) I normally don't like "fairy" type stories but it's not like that.
2) Read this friggin book...
Aria is a Halfling. So half human and half Fae. So obviously she is no ordinary teenager. After a huge loss, she moves to Grant City. Within, the first day she saves a girl Sam and they become friends pretty much instantly. They are in ways, a lot a like. Aria pretty much kicks butt. Sam is amazing with technology. I loved their relationship. There's a lot of humor in this story, which I love. I'm a huge Buffy fan, I like the seriousness and humor mixed in with it. And add a whole bunch of butt kicking and danger. If that even makes sense.
I'm glad I took this chance, to read it. It was a nice change, to read a different genre and really dive into it. To be honest, I knew from the first page I was going to love it. The writing really took hold of me, like I was meant to read it.
Aria is a different type of character. I just loved everything about her. She wasn't the whiny I have to save the world. She was a ninja and even in her weakest moments. She was able to defeat everything in front of her.
This is a series, so If your looking for an amazing Sci Fi/Fantasy. Pick this one up. I can't wait for the next one.
