Synopsis
He was my older brother's best friend. He was never supposed to be mine. I thought we would get it out of our system and move on. One of us did. One of us left. Now he’s back, looking at me like he wants to devour me. And all those feelings I’d turned into anger are brewing into something else, something that terrifies me. He broke my heart last time. This time he'll obliterate it. This is a standalone.
Five +++ Boundless Stars
This story has all the feels. It rips you to pieces and puts you back together. Over and over and over. It's an emotional roller coaster. I laughed, cried, I felt the heartache. Estelle lost her fiancé and after a year she decides it's time to move on. She's held a lot of pain and grief. But she's knows what's best. Elle has a good heart and may seem a little naive sometimes. But I loved Elle. She's a character that can easily steal your heart. Oliver is her brothers best friend. Elle has always been off limits. But still rules are made to be broken.
"I realized that sometimes in order to move forward you have to let go of the past, even if it hurts. Especially if it hurts."
The journey these two have is just this amazing story. The writing is just amazing and there wasn't a time I wasn't in love with this. It was book at first sight (cheesey, yes).
One thing that I really loved is that you get just a little of Oliver's POV. You pretty much don't know everything, till around the end. People may think that Oliver really doesn't deserve Elle. But in all honesty, we're all scared. Love is a scary thing but I'm proud of Elle.
"Love is beautiful, shattering, moving, haunting. Love is everything." he reads. His eyes flicker to mine. "Who defines love?"
Claire has this amazing ability to really throw you into the story. I felt all the heartache. I had accidentally read Paper Hearts, which is #2 in the series, awhile back. But it didn't ruin anything.
I can't wait for the next in the series, Elastic Hearts.
