For those of you who know me, know that this is one of my FAVORITE genre of books. Which is basically the Bad Boy to the 9th degree!
Now Transcending Darkness started out in such a seedy manner that I was in a constant state of anxiety and disbelief at the unfathomable and helpless situations we found Juliette in. Juliette is forced to pay back a ton of money on a debt that she didn’t even make! The worst part is she is killing herself every day to make ends meet and pay the debt. Working 3 dead end jobs and barely scrapping by so she can care for her 16 year old sister and keep her safe. The worst part is her sister is an ungrateful brat that is so clueless to what Juliette is going through! It was maddening!
“You promised to pay the debt your father owed me and I wouldn’t take your pretty little sister as compensation. So far, I have kept my end of the bargain, but you haven’t kept yours.”
Without the money she needs she has no other option but to barter her body for a reprieve on the debt. OMG the man she owed the money to is the scum of the earth! Skin crawling, disgusting pig, not in looks mind you but his soul. Not only is he prepared to take a 16 year old child and do who knows what but he is going to take Juliette up on her offer and then pass her around to his men!!! OMG I couldn’t breathe!!!
Fate, AKA Killian steps in before Juliette can be rapped and passed around like party favor. Killian isn’t by any means a good guy. He is also a criminal. However between the two choices she is given, Killian is by far the better bet. He essentially saves her from a fate worse than death and doesn’t even realize it. However due to Juliette’s precarious position she is told to please Killian. What can she do? She is stuck, so luckily for her she is attracted to Killian and is able to give herself to him and actually enjoy the experience.
Killian, being a criminal doesn’t believe in romantic entanglements. If you don’t have any weaknesses they can’t be used against you. However, one taste of Juliette isn’t enough and he wants more. Much more. So he devices a way to keep her for a year without romantic entanglements.
“You can’t,” he cut her off with more sharpness then was probably necessary. “You can’t worry. You can’t ask. You can’t know. Those are the rules. You’re not my girlfriend or my wife. This is nothing between us but sex.”
This story was so good! It was erotic as hell and so emotional. The suspense was so drawn out I was on the edge of my seat dying to know what came next. I read the entire book in one day! Its 506 pages it’s a long book! I couldn’t put it down! This will defiantly be a book I read over and over! I also purchases my own copy I loved it that much!
