Synopsis
The next thrilling book in Jennifer Estep’s New York Times and USA Today bestselling Elemental Assassin series—“an extraordinary series… One of the most intriguing heroines in the genre” (Romantic Times Book Reviews). Keep your friends close but your enemies within stabbing distance. One important lesson I’ve learned in the assassination business is that to be the best you have to roll with the punches. Now that I’m queen of Ashland’s underworld—by default, not by choice—a lot more punches are being thrown my way. But I suppose that’s the price of victory for taking down some of the underworld’s top dogs. Good thing I have my Ice and Stone magic to help me survive my volatile new position. Just when I think things are finally settling down, someone tries to murder me during a hush-hush underworld meeting. But the real surprise is how strangely familiar my shadowy assailant seems to be. My job is to maintain order among killers, crooks, and thieves, and soon I’m embroiled in a bloody game where the ability to keep secrets could be the greatest superpower of all. My enemies have all sharpened their knives and laid their traps, waiting for me to fall. But this Spider weaves her own webs of death…
Review - Five Boundless Stars
There is nothing I love more than a story with a kick ass female lead! Gin is that female. I purchased Spiders Trap months and months ago on pre-order. Well when it came out its a Tuesday and I had to work. OMG it's out in audio book! I so bought that (at a discount since I already purchased the kindle edition). So I've now found the best thing ever, I can listen to an audio book and do all my filing and paperwork. Brilliant! I think from now on I will be purchasing this series in audio book as long as it's narrated by Lauren Fortgang. She brought this world to life for me! The book is so action packed with a funny sarcastic wit mixed right in. Lauren delivered beautifully. She had Gin down perfectly (at least how I always imagined her). That sweet southern sarcastic drawl, mixed with a hard edge of don't mess with me. I will say I was on the edge of my seat like always with these books. Spiders Trap especially had me at one point a nervous mess practically in tears. I think I was talking to my book. My coworkers think I'm mad, but that's alright. Spiders Trap did not disappoint me in the slightest. The audio version made it even better for me. If you would like to read an Urban Fantasy with a kick ass female lead, this is the series. She is the Spider, the Elemental Assassin. Yet when it comes to her friends and family or really any underdog she has a heart of gold!
