When desire sets you free…control is a matter of perception. I'm Devin Hill. Darkness taints my soul. I'm suffocating. Drowning. The sweet promise of air? Pure illusion. Tested as a genius at age seven, I hide my emotions, become what they expect...bury my secrets. At nineteen, I trudge toward a predestined path, blinders on, heart safeguarded. Until I dare to be wild. Until Alec Marquez crashes into my world. Until all that follows redefines everything I've ever known. What happens when you stumble into a world of spies...and discover you belong there? *** This is a standalone full-length novel. ***

Sara's Review - Three Stars

I was provided a copy of The Espionage Effect through Net Galley as part of a blog tour. The overall story was really good with mystery, suspense and some great passion. Devin is on vacation with her BFF Anna down in Mexico. Anna convinces Devin that she should have an affair help her unwind and have a great time. Devin is this big genius with an Eidetic Memory so she never relaxes and never stop thinking. On top of that she has a horrible childhood trauma that has left her with incredible anger and pent up rage. Or as she calls it Darkness. Devin feels out of control and that everyone is steering her life but her. She is ready to pop! So her Devin is on vacation, a ticking time bomb ready to go off. Fate steps in one night in the form of Alec Marquez. These two have off the charts sexual chemistry. Alec brings Devin into his world of spies and danger. Devin jumps in with both feet ready for an adventure. Like I said the overall story is solid. What lost me was it was way too overly descriptive and wordy for my personal taste. I also found Devin's constant inner monologue excessive to the point of annoying. Let me just put it this way. When you're escaping criminals I don't care what color the carpet is, much less the walls or how the lighting is placed. It has no bearing on the story, is irrelevant and takes away from the intense flow and pacing of the story.......
