Synopsis
I had it all: an adoring husband, supportive friends, thriving career, a homey condo in the city. Amend that. I had it all except for love from my family. But life was good because I had him. Max was everything I dreamed a husband could be and somehow he loved me just as wildly as I loved him. Until one cruel night he was stolen from me. Then I had nothing but a vicious battle ahead of me. It’s a struggle so treacherous, I’m not sure if I’ll make it out with my heart in tact. But on the other side of that brutal war waits the most wondrous prize. Will I allow myself to move forward?
Review
At first this book moved very slowly. But it brought tears to my eyes and with that much feeling, the slowness is smooth as silk.
Violet, a woman handed much tragedy in her life. A year after her husband passes away. She's told to move on but the grief still holds her. It's as if the idea of someone else, would mean she would have to forget about someone, someone who meant the world to her.
Cameron is a Goalie for the Scrapers. He's usually the player type, never wanting to settle down! But he sees something in V that he doesn't want to let go.
This was such an amazing story, I didn't want to let go. When choosing a book to read, you never know what to expect. The tragedy in the very beginning, set the tone for most of it. I loved that I got to see Violet grow. A woman who lost her way, the grief surrounded her. But eventually she realized she couldn't always be that way. She wouldn't let go of Max, she never would. She became more confident and more aware of her abilities.
Not only is this book about finding love again. It's about family, you don't have to be born into it. It's about the ones that truly care, heart and soul for you. Your friends, ones that are truly your brothers and sisters. Life is never easy, sometimes you get the low blow. But it's about building your life again, on your own terms.
I have a lot of respect for Cameron, given his lifestyle before Violet. He knew in his heart she was it. After I was finished I was happy to find that there were other books in this series. Though this is a standalone, they interconnect. I love that a lot, deep down I was not quite done. I didn't want this story to end. I read this within a day. It was amazing. Maybe I'm a sucker for love stories, but this was more.
This is the first book I've ever read of Olivia's and I can't wait to read more.
