Blair Montgomery is sent to Newton, Montana, to purchase a ranch and some land for his father. It’s a trip he doesn't want to make. But his father paid for his college education in exchange for Blair working for him in his casinos, so Blair has no choice. When he finds out he’ll be dealing with Royal, the man who bullied him in high school, he is shocked. Then Blair is surprised when he finds that Royal’s time in the Marines has changed him to the point where Blair could be attracted to him… if he’s willing to take that chance.
Royal’s life hasn’t been a bed of roses. He saw combat in the military that left him scarred, and not just on the outside. When he inherits his father’s ranch, he discovers his father wasn't a good manager and the ranch is in trouble. The sale of land would put them back on good footing, but he is suspicious of Blair’s father’s motives and with good reason. The attraction between them is hard for either to ignore, but it could all evaporate once the land deal is sealed.
**Excerpt**
Blair put his foot in the stirrup and managed to swing his leg over. He settled into the saddle, and the natural curve of the leather made sure his hips pressed right against Royal’s ass. He wrapped his arms around Royal’s waist, and the horse began to walk forward. “I feel like I’m going to fall off.”
“You aren’t, and Marvel is only going to walk, anyway. We won’t be going very fast,” Royal said over his shoulder. “It’s a good thing you’re pretty light.”
“Is that some kind of dig?”
“No. It’s a fact. A horse can only handle so much weight, and since you’re a fairly small guy Marvel can accommodate the both of us. He’s very strong, but we won’t be galloping or anything. So relax and go with his and my movements. It’s a lot easier on Marvel, and the sensation that you’re going to fall off will recede.”
“If you say so.” Blair slowly began to get comfortable, and as he did, he became aware of anumber of things, the first being that he was afraid to move his hands in case Royal thought he was feeling him up, and the second how flat and hard Royal’s stomach was. Hell, the man seemed to be hard everywhere. Blair closed his eyes and willed his suddenly interested dick to remain quiet. If he got excited, Royal would feel him. There was no way he wouldn’t with Blair’s hips pressed tight against that firm cowboy butt. Blair shook his head to push that thought away. Images of Royal’s butt were so not going help him right now.
“The Triple C has a number of special features to the lands. It’s contoured so there are natural barriers between the grazing meadows, aand each area has a source of water. There’s a stream to the west, and in the eastern section a small spring creates a natural pond that’s shared with my ranch. The spring itself is actually on my land, but the water rights are shared.”
“It’s wonderful out here,” Blair commented softly. Royal pulled Marvel to stop, and Blair looked all around, taking in the Bitterroot Mountains in the distance, the open land, and occasional trees. He guessed those were clustered near the stream. “Do you spend all your days working out here?”
“Pretty much.”
“Do you love being a cowboy?” Blair asked.
“Technically I’m a ranch owner, but yeah. I can’t think of any other life I’d rather have. It’s not easy and nature can throw you curves you never see coming, but I love it. Why?” Royal started Marvel walking again.
“I guess I never appreciated it while I lived here.” Blair stopped right there. He didn’t want to bring up why he hadn’t liked it here. That conversation was a little too heavy to be having while he was in the same saddle with Royal, balls and dick squished right up to the ass of the man who’d made his life miserable. “Not that I was here all that long.”
They continued on their way, slowly making their way across the grassland. “This particulargrazing area hasn’t been used in about a year or so. I had a small herd here for a while. Butit’s been empty since then, so if you decide to bring in cattle, this would be a good place to graze them first.”
