Midnight Kiss can be read as a stand alone novel. There will be a bit of back story from previous novels that you won't have the complete picture on, but there is enough recap done when needed that you will be ok. That said I personally think you would be CRAZY if you don't stop right here and go start the series right with book 1 Dragon Bound which I LOVED! Midnight Kiss is probably the first book of Thea's I didn't give a five. To be fair I'm not really sure if it's really anything to do with the book or I'm just personally done with Vampire stories. Don't get me wrong, I love the overall world of the Elders. The Djinn are my favorite well and of course Dragos. We have now had four vampire books. One was a novella but 3 of the eight full length novels have now had a vampire! Ugghh! I really hope we are done with the vampires for now. Midnight Kiss was good I'm looking forward to the next book Shadow's End which I've already pre-ordered.
