Synopsis:
Wrong place, wrong time… A chance encounter in a highway rest area makes shy, drab Bethany witness to a murder. Before dying the victim begs her to get documents to his son, Roger; and to "trust no one". Can she manage to do as he asks? Does she have the needed courage? Roger Meadows is intrigued by Riverview's newest resident. Meeting her at the Co-Op, she makes him smile. Soon, he realizes she needs his protection. From whom he doesn’t know, but he’s determined to protect this red headed pixie. Together the they face kidnapping and even murder attempts while working to discover the identity of the mastermind behind the murder of his father. Will the danger they share bond them together? Can they stay ahead of the villain? This novel is not only a mystery with a shade of romance, it is a look into the world of endurance riding and racing, horse care, the spirit of the sport and the values of small town and rural America. The close knit feel of Riverview and the citizens who know and care about neighbors, old and new, reveal how things should be in all towns, not just small ones.
Review by Stormi:
Let me start off by saying this book had a great beginning. It was fast paced and automatically sucked you into the story. I did find as I continued to read the book that some parts seemed to drag on and were a bit boring, but the story would quickly pick up pace and suck you back in, making up for those slow spots. I loved the idea of Bethany and Roger and I was rooting for them the entire book. I'll leave it at that so as not to spoil anything. Overall, the book had a great mix of suspense, humor, and romance. This is a pretty good read for romance and suspense readers alike, and also for the animal lovers out there.
