When I found myself facing down the scariest black-magic felon in the city, practically daring him to abduct me, I had to wonder exactly how I ended up here.
It all started when I accidentally landed a job as a bartender--but not at a bar. At a guild, populated by mages, sorcerers, alchemists, witches, and psychics. Good thing this lame-o human is adaptable, right?
Then my favorite guild members--three sexy, powerful, and intermittently charming mages--asked for my help. Did they want access to my encyclopedic knowledge of cocktails? Oh no. They wanted to wrap me up in a pretty ribbon and plunk me in the crosshairs of a murderous rogue to lure him out of hiding.
So that's what we did. And that's why I'm here. About to be kidnapped. Oh, and our grand plan for safely capturing said murderous rogue? Yeah, that completely fell apart about two minutes ago.
Why did I agree to this again? FIVE BOUNDLESS STARS
In book two, Tori is settling into the job at the bar and even going as far as finding an apartment. When the guys come to her with a plan to use her as “bait “ to catch the Notorious Ghost. Who has kidnapped a young teen that hits way to close to all Tori’s past traumas. However, the job goes sideways, and Tori finds herself in The Ghosts clutches with no way out. I loved how good and evil are blurred in this one with the Ghost. Because sure he does “evil things” but for good reasons. He is not evil, and this story brought out the dichotomy of morals and doing what is right, gray, and in between. Tori is once again fabulous, a human in a magical world keeping up and kicking ass. I love a strong female lead—no sniveling damsel in distress here. I am rating this one 5 Boundless stars, it was exciting, great fun, and I am moving on to the next one ASAP.
