Five Star Review: Rising Darkness: Book 9 (A Rylee Adamson Novel) by Shannon Mayer
Publisher: Hijinks Ink Publishing
Released: April 28, 2015
Genre: Paranormal, Urban Fantasy
Length: 232 Pages
“My name is Rylee and I am a Tracker.” When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot. One last salvage and the final battle with Orion and the demon hordes will be upon me. I don't know the name of the person I'm Tracking, or what she looks like so finding her is going to be . . . impossible. But she is the key to defeating the demons. The world has been swept with a plague that is killing not only the humans, but every supernatural it touches. While I’m out Tracking, my allies are being wiped out. Worse than all of this? I am losing Pamela to the darkness with every second that passes. I'm not sure even I can control any of these outcomes
But that doesn't mean I'm not going to try.

Rising Darkness picks up right where Stitched left off. Rylee had her daughter, Marcella and left her in the monastery with Milly's son Zane, Erik and Coyote. She is traveling with Berget and Faris on Blaz looking to regroup with Doran, Pam, Eve, Frank, Will, Deanna and Alex.
Rylee comes back to a world that has been devastated by a demon driven Small Pox virus that has wiped out 1/2 the population. The clincher this time is supernatural aren't immune and they think Rylee's blood is the cure!!!!
In Rising we see Pam tested by the Darkness she was warned about. She has so much anger, hurt, and self loathing that she is easy pickings for Orion. She is also just a teenager and often times acts just like a "teenager". It's comical to expect so much from someone so young.
In Rising Darkness, we continue to have Liam's soul in the story. This is so confusing for Rylee, how is she to move on if he hasn't?
If you remember from Stitched Faris called on his necromancer skills and brought Liam into his body so he could "borrow" Liam's Guardian powers and grow back his arm. Well, this has had some unforeseen consequences for Feris, that leaves the self serving Vampire in territory he has never been in. I found it to be a wonderful dish of Karma!
At about 70% of the story Rylee and her group were going over the plan to retrieve the Destroyer who is needed for the final battle. The were speaking with the Great Wolf Griffin about this, who hinted that there might be more to come for Liam. Oh fingers crossed!
Anyways, at this point I realized I missed reading the prequel Elementally Priceless. I hate skipping books! So I essentially feel like I'm missing a key piece of back-story that I need! However, I have purchased Elementally Priceless and will be rectifying that shortly!
Rising Darkness, like all of Shannon Mayer books is so fast paced and action packed you are hooked from the first page! It will make you laugh and cry all while on the edge of your seat! This series is one of my all time favorite Urban Fantasies! I'm sad that the next book, Blood of the Lost will be the last. I don't want to say goodbye but I also can't wait to see how it ends!
